Gold and Silver Prices Rise Following US Tariff Hike on India

sentiment_img

Gold prices varied across cities, with Chennai recording the highest rate at Rs 101,470 per 10 gm, while Delhi traded at Rs 101,000 per 10 gm. Silver prices corrected by 2.95% to $37.01 levels due to industrial metals correction after a 50% tariff was imposed on copper. Oil Extends Five-Day Decline as Trump Doubles India Tariffs Over Russian Energy Purchases

sentiment_img

Oil prices maintained their five-day losing streak, the longest since January, with West Texas Intermediate trading below $65 per barrel and Brent near $67. Trump doubled tariffs on Indian goods to 50% due to India's purchases of Russian energy, with implementation beginning in three weeks, though no similar measures were announced against China. Trump indicated a potential meeting with Putin and Zelensiy to broker peace in Ukraine and warned of additional penalties for Russian oil purchases. Crude has declined sharply in August after three months of gains, with traders anticipating a potential supply glut as OPEC+ returns shuttered capacity to markets. Economic growth concerns and potential weaker energy consumption from broader trade tariffs are adding pressure to oil prices.
