US ETFs List

as on 03 Oct 2026 at 1:29 AM IST
A single US ETF can hand you exposure to hundreds of companies, entire sectors, or the S&P 500 itself. This kind of diversification would otherwise take dozens of individual stock picks to build. For Indian investors, ETFs are often the simpler entry point into US markets: lower research overhead than picking individual stocks, built-in diversification, and typically lower expense ratios than actively managed funds. Explore the list below to find ETFs tracking indices, sectors, or themes that fit your portfolio.

About US ETFs

What can you see in all US ETFs?

The US ETF list on Dhan gives you a free, real-time directory of Exchange Traded Funds listed on the stock exchanges in the US. This is a viewable list without logging in. Here’s what you’ll find on this page:

  • Complete ETF data: The rows show the name of the fund, LTP in USD, the percentage change in a day, traded volume, market cap, 52-week high, and returns across five windows - 1 month, 3 months, 1 year, 3 years and 5 years.
  • Alphabetical navigation: Investors can directly access funds based on a specific letter arranged in alphabetical order from A to Z. The less common funds have been grouped under “Others”.
  • Sortable columns and analytics: You can click on any column header, market cap, percentage of change, or the return windows to re-rank the entire list by that metric. The entire list can be downloaded as a CSV file for offline comparison. The “Analyze with Fuzz AI” feature allows you to quickly evaluate a fund using AI.

US exchange-traded funds

A US ETF works exactly like any other ETF in terms of structure. It’s a collection of securities, usually composed of stocks or bonds that track a particular index, sector, or theme. The ETF trades on an exchange throughout the day like a stock.

The scale and range of US ETFs make it different from Indian ETFs. The US ETF market is the largest and oldest in the world. The entire range of funds gives Indian investors several options to choose from, depending on their investment habits. These ETFs help you gain exposure to thousands of companies in every sector in a single purchase.

Thematic and sectoral ETFs allow investors to take a targeted approach to specific industries like technology and healthcare. You can even invest in an ETF on large-cap companies that pay dividends. With ETFs available for investment, you do not have to research or pick individual stocks in the US market.

How Indian investors access US ETFs

Investors looking to buy a US ETF from India need a different approach compared to buying an Indian ETF through a regular demat account. It involves a separate process.

  • Remittance under LRS: Funds are transferred from your Indian bank account to your international trading account under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) of the RBI. This scheme allows resident individuals to remit up to USD 250,000 per financial year for permitted purposes, which includes investing in foreign securities.
  • TCS on remittance: Section 206C(1G) states that remittances for overseas investment above the applicable annual threshold attract Tax Collected at Source. This tax is adjustable against the total tax liability of an investor when they file their return. It is not an additional cost.
  • Trading on the US exchange: When the funds are credited to your international account, trading orders are placed directly on US exchanges like NYSE or Nasdaq. These transactions are made in USD during the market hours in the US. Usually, this comes to roughly 7:00 PM to 1:30 AM IST.
  • Holding and settlement: The units are held through the custodian arrangement in your name. The trades settle as per US market conventions instead of the T+1 cycle followed on Indian exchanges.

Reading the columns

Each row in the US ETFs List on Dhan carries the following details.

  • Name: This is the full name of the ETF, tagged with a coloured initial marking which denotes its issuer.
  • LTP: LTP is the last traded price for the ETF units, represented in US dollars.
  • Change %: This is the percentage change in the price of the ETF for that day in the current session.
  • Volume: It shows the number of ETF units that are traded during the session.
  • Market Cap (Mn): The row lists the total market capitalisation of the fund in millions of dollars, representing its AUM.
  • 52W High: This is the highest price that the ETF touched in the last 52 weeks.
  • 1M/ 3M/ 1 Yr/ 3 Yr/ 5 Yr Returns: These rows show the absolute returns in percentage of each ETF over the respective return window. These numbers let you compare the performance of the funds over different time spans.

How to use the table controls?

On Dhan, this page has been designed to make scanning efficient for investors. Here’s how you can use the tables to find relevant ETFs.

  • Alphabet filter: You can directly jump to ETFs starting with a particular alphabet based on the specific letter. The Names can be sorted from A to Z, which is useful when you already know the initial of the ticker or the fund family. Example - V for Vanguard.
  • Column sorting: For re-sorting ETFs based on any metric, click on market cap, change %, or any of the return columns. For example, when you sort by 1-year returns, the strongest recent performers are listed first.
  • Download CSV: Download the visible data on the page into a spreadsheet for comparing offline later on.
  • Fuzz AI: There’s an option titled “Analyze with Fuzz AI” which provides an AI-generated summary of each ETF before investors open the individual ETF page to view the full details.
  • Page numbers: As thousands of ETFs are listed on this page, you can move to the later pages using the page numbers at the bottom.

Key terms to know

  • LTP (Last Traded Price): This is the most recent price at which the ETF units were transacted on the exchange.
  • Market cap: The market cap for an ETF shows the overall dollar value of units outstanding. It reflects the assets under management for that particular fund.
  • Expense ratio: This is the annual fee charged by the issuer of the fund, and is deducted from its assets. Although it is not visible on this page, you can check the Expense ratio on the individual pages of the ETFs.
  • LRS (Liberalised Remittance Scheme): LRS is the framework established by the RBI under which resident Indians can remit money abroad. This money can be invested in US securities, and has a fixed annual cap per individual.
  • TCS (Tax Collected at Source): This tax is collected by the remitting bank on LRS outflows exceeding the applicable threshold. It is adjustable against the final tax liability of the investor.
  • Underlying index/theme: This is the benchmark, sector, or strategy that an ETF tracks.
  • Ticker: A ticker is the short alphabetic code like VOO or QQQ used to identify a US ETF listed on the exchange.

Why browse the US ETFs list on Dhan?

Indian investors gain some practical benefits from screening US ETFs on Dhan and comparing them.

  • Thousands of ETFs in one list: A single sortable table on Dhan lists thousands of US ETFs, which makes it easy for investors to narrow down the options instead of browsing manually.
  • Easy to invest: The list has been built into an interface from which Indian investors can easily place an order through Dhan.
  • Consistent metrics across funds: The same fields like LTP, volume, market cap, and five return windows are used to compare the US ETFs to make comparison easy.
  • Quick screening using AI: The Fuzz AI shortcut allows you to get a quick overview of a fund. It’s useful when you narrow down a long alphabetical list, making it easier to choose the ETFs that deserve a closer look.

Things to know before acting on US ETF data

Before you shortlist a US ETF from this page, here are a few points worth considering:

  • Currency risk: The returns you see are presented in USD. Your actual return in rupees depends on how the currency conversion between the US dollar and the Indian rupee has moved between your purchase and sale. This may add to your gains or reduce them, regardless of how the fund performed.
  • LRS limit applies across all your foreign remittances: The annual upper cap of USD 250,000 is not specific to ETF investing. It covers every permitted use, including travel, education, gifts, and investments for an individual in that financial year.
  • Different tax treatment: As per tax rules in India, US ETFs are usually considered unlisted foreign securities. Gains on ETF units that you hold over 24 months qualify as long-term capital gains. These gains are currently taxed at 12.50% without indexation. Gains on units that you sell within 24 months qualify as short-term capital gains. These gains are added to your income and taxed at the slab rate.
  • Dividends face US withholding tax first: Under Article 10 of the India-US DTAA, dividends distributed from US ETFs are subject to a 25% US withholding tax before you receive the balance. This amount is taxable in India at your slab rate. As per Section 90 of the Income-tax Act along with Article 25, Foreign Tax Credit is not taxed twice on the same income. It can be claimed through the applicable ITR schedule. Indian taxpayers must file Form 67 before filing the tax returns.
