Order Placement and Modifications
What happens to your order after you place it?
Let’s say you want to buy 1,050 quantities of Bank Nifty Futures.
1 lot = 35 quantities.
So, 1,050 quantities = 30 lots.
But the exchange freeze limit is 601, which means you can’t place more than 601 quantities in one single order.
What happens with the Iceberg?
Instead of rejecting your large order, Iceberg is automatically applied as long as you have the margin required to execute the Iceberg Order.
Let’s say you choose to slice it into 3 legs:
🔹 1st leg: 350 quantities (10 lots)
🔹 2nd leg: 350 quantities (10 lots)
🔹 3rd leg: 350 quantities (10 lots)
Total = 1,050 quantities (30 lots)
Dhan places all legs together and executes within milliseconds.
If enough margin is unavailable, then the Iceberg order will process sequentially, which is one by one, until the margin available is utilized — just as it usually does before.
