Trade settlement is the process of officially transferring shares and cash between buyer and seller:
1.In May 2024, the US moved from T+2 to T+1 settlement for equities
2.T+1 means: if you sell shares today (Trade Day), the cash is available in your account the next business day
3.You cannot withdraw sale proceeds until the trade settles
4.Weekends and US market holidays are excluded from the T-count
ℹ️ Example: You sell Apple on Monday. Settlement = Tuesday (T+1). You can initiate a withdrawal from Tuesday onwards.
