Journal Ledger and Trade Info
Ledger, Holdings, Past Trades and more
The Ledger Summary provides a detailed record of all transactions in your account. Here’s a breakdown of its key features:
🔹Cash Flow Tracking: The Ledger records the flow of cash in and out of your account, including deposits, withdrawals, and trades.
🔹Excludes Contra Entries: It does not include contra entries, ensuring accurate cash tracking.
🔹MTF Funding Details: If you use Margin Trading Facility (MTF), the ledger will show MTF funding. This is the net value of your MTF positions, calculated as the total purchase value minus any cash collateral. For example, if you buy securities worth ₹1,00,000 and have ₹20,000 in cash, the ledger will reflect MTF funding of ₹80,000.
🔹Position-Related Entries: It includes trade executions, such as credits for sold options, but debits are recorded when positions are squared off. For open positions, P&L won’t appear in the Ledger until they’re closed.
🔹Interest Charges on MTF: For MTF positions, the ledger will also reflect any interest charges based on the funding provided, which is adjusted daily based on margin movements.
📝 Note: The Ledger is primarily used to monitor your cash flow, and it’s a helpful tool for viewing the cash aspects of your trades. However, if you want to track your profit and loss, you will need to refer to other sections like the Journal or Position.
