Bank Changes
Primary/Secondary bank changes
Yes! you can update your bank’s IFSC in-app. No forms, no courier.
The steps depend on when you’re doing it:
- During account opening (Onboarding)
- After account opening (Money → Banks)
First, let's understand the process during Onboarding/KYC.
If you notice the IFSC is wrong after validating your bank details, follow the simple steps mentioned below:
- On the bank details screen, tap the edit (✏️) icon next to the IFSC.
- Update the IFSC by either entering IFSC manually, or tap 'Find IFSC' and search using your bank name + branch/location.
- Re-check your bank details and complete the penny-drop verification again.
Continue with your KYC onboarding once your bank is verified.
Tip: If your bank recently changed IFSC, Find IFSC is usually the quickest way to fetch the correct one.
Now, coming to IFSC Modification post Onboarding:
There are two separate processes here depending on the Bank type:
For Primary Bank:
- Go to Money → Banks.
- In your Primary Bank section, tap the edit (✏️) icon next to IFSC.
- Enter the new IFSC or use 'Find IFSC'.
- Complete bank verification.
- Complete a quick eSign (a digital signature) to confirm the change.
Why is eSign needed for Primary Bank?
Because your Primary Bank is your main linked bank, and updating it needs an extra confirmation layer to keep your account secure and records updated.
For Secondary Banks:
- Go to Money → Banks.
- Tap the edit (✏️) icon next to the IFSC for the secondary bank.
- Enter the new IFSC or use 'Find IFSC'.
- Complete bank verification.
✅ No eSign needed for Secondary Bank IFSC update.
Where can you find your latest IFSC?
- Your bank’s passbook front page.
- A cancelled cheque.
- Your bank’s official website/app.
- Or simply use 'Find IFSC' inside Dhan.
What if your re-verification fails?
Try these quick checks:
- Make sure the IFSC matches your exact branch.
- Double-check you selected the right bank + location in 'Find IFSC'.
- Ensure the bank account is active and can receive small credits.
- Retry after some time if your bank is having temporary issues.
Will updating your IFSC change your bank account number?
No. Updating IFSC only updates the branch code. Your account number stays the same. If your bank account number itself has changed, you’ll need to add a new bank account instead of editing IFSC.
