Order Rejections
Why was your order rejected?
Here are a few possible reasons why this might have happened:
1. Funds available are less than the order amount
To avoid order failure, please check the estimated margin shown while placing an order to make sure you have enough funds to execute the order.
Please check if the available margin or a part of the margin is occupied for open/naked positions held.
2. Placing Basket or Hedge Orders
If you’re placing a basket order or trying to hedge two positions (for example, one buy and one sell position in different options/futures), the sequence and margin calculation matter.
For successful execution, you need to maintain the overall margin that reflects once the basket is created:
Final margin + Hedge benefit = Overall margin
The execution will happen as per the final margin.
In hedge orders, the second leg (called the 'parent', which requires a higher margin) should execute after the first leg.
🔹Example:
Let’s say you create a basket with Nifty Put Buy (1 lot) & Nifty Put Sell (1 lot).
Then, the Nifty Buy leg should be executed first, and then the Nifty Put Sell leg.
Here, you can keep the Nifty Buy leg first in the sequence, followed by the Nifty Sell leg, to meet the minimum margin requirement in the Overall margin.
3. You have Already Placed an Order to Exit
If you're trying to exit a position but already have an open order (maybe it’s pending), the system may block the new order.
🔹What to do:
Check if an order is already placed to close that position.
If yes, either cancel that order or use the option to cancel in the position tab (while exiting position at market) and exit at market.
4. Cross Margin Utilisation
The order may fail if you try to use the option premium received in one segment (like MCX) to place a trade in a different segment (like Equity F&O). This is because cross-segment margin utilization is not allowed.
🔹Example:
If you sell an MCX Option and receive a premium, you can only use that amount to:
Buy another MCX Option
You cannot use these premiums to:
Short-sell or buy options in a different segment
Buy or sell Index Futures
Short-sell or Futures in MCX
