When a company issues partly paid shares, the investor pays only a portion of the total share price upfront. The remaining amount is due as per the company's subsequent call, which may be payable in one lump sum or installments, depending on the terms of the issue.
Until the full amount is paid:
🔹The shareholder is considered the owner of the shares.
🔹But the company retains a claim over the unpaid amount.
