Rent Stocks
Stock renting and Borrowing
Yes, you can demand your shares back early by placing a "recall," order. But success depends on contract terms and market availability.
What is a recall?
A recall is when you (the lender) demand your shares back before the contract expiry
What happens when you demand a recall?
• You place a recall order through the Dhan.
• The system tries to find another borrower willing to take over the remaining contract period at the price the lender is willing to pay.
• If successful, your shares are returned and the new borrower takes over.
• In case of unavailability of another borrower the lender will be obligated to wait till expiry for the stocks to be credited back to the account.
Important notes:
• Your recall demand's success depends on availability of other borrowers in the market
• The borrower continues to use the shares until the recall is processed
• Not all contracts allow early recall - some are binding until expiry
