US Stocks List

as on 19 Sep 2026 at 1:29 AM IST
The US market gives Indian investors exposure that the domestic market simply doesn't have. Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft aren't listed anywhere else, and sectors like big tech, biotech, and global consumer brands are underrepresented. Investing here isn't about chasing higher returns alone; it's about diversifying beyond a single currency and a single economy's business cycle. Browse the full list below, invest via LRS from India, and own fractional shares starting at $1.

About US Stocks List

What can you see in the US Stocks List?

The US Stocks List page provides you with a free, consolidated list of all US stocks listed on the NYSE and NASDAQ. By default, the stocks are arranged by market capitalisation. The following are available without login:

  • Complete stock data: Every row displays the stock name, last traded price, change %, volume, market cap (Mn), PE ratio, industry PE, 52-week high, returns across 1 month, 3 months, 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years, along with ROE and ROCE.
  • Comprehensive universe: It currently offers a list of 6,534 listed US stocks to Indian investors to browse and invest in, across both NYSE and NASDAQ.
  • Alphabetical navigation: You can browse stocks by the first letter of the company name using the A–Z filter tabs, or select All to view the complete list
  • Quick links: Direct access to exchange-specific lists like All NYSE Stocks, All NASDAQ Stocks, and All US ETFs for faster navigation.

However, investors can add particular stocks to their basket or invest in them only after logging in with a Dhan account.

What is the US Stocks List?

The US market is the world's largest equity market by capitalisation, and the US Stocks List gives Indian investors access to companies and sectors that are either absent or significantly underrepresented in domestic markets.

Global giants like Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Amazon are not listed on any Indian exchange; therefore, investors seeking exposure to these stocks can add them to their portfolio through US stock investment.

Beyond the marquee technology names, the US market also offers access to biotechnology, global consumer brands, semiconductor manufacturers, aerospace companies, and financial institutions operating at a scale that no single domestic market can replicate.

The US Stocks List offers Indian investors the exposure to build a diversified portfolio that is not tied to a single currency, a single central bank's policy cycle, or a single economy's growth trajectory.

How Can Indians Invest in US Stocks from India?

Indian residents can invest in US stocks under the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS), which permits remittances of up to $250,000 per financial year. The process does not require a foreign bank account or a separate overseas brokerage relationship. Here is how it works:

Step 1: Open a Dhan account

Start US stock investments by opening a Dhan demat account. Existing Dhan users with a verified account can access US stock investing directly; no separate account or additional registration is required.

Step 2: Add bank account and transfer funds

Investors have to link their bank account to transfer funds in Indian Rupees to their account. Dhan has integrated smooth fund transfers with Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDFC FIRST Bank, and Kotak Mahindra Bank. You can start as low as $1.

Step 3: Browse and select stocks

Once funds are credited to the account, you can browse the complete list of US stocks and select the stocks you want to invest in.

Step 4: Place the order

You can place orders during US market hours. NYSE and NASDAQ operate from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern Time (ET), which corresponds to approximately 7:00 PM to 1:30 AM IST (8:00 PM to 2:30 AM IST during Indian summer, when the US observes DST). Investors who want to place orders outside these hours can place after-market orders.

Step 5: Track and manage the portfolio

All US stock holdings are visible within the Dhan portfolio interface alongside domestic equity positions, mutual funds, and other investments. Investors can monitor unrealised gains and losses, review transaction history, and place sell orders within the same interface they use for domestic markets.

How are gains on US stock investments taxed in India?

Gains from US stock investments are taxable in India. Holdings sold within 24 months are treated as short-term capital gains and taxed at the applicable slab rate, while holdings sold after 24 months qualify for long-term capital gains at 12.5%.

Dividends from US stocks are taxable in both India and the US. If an Indian investor has filed Form W-8BEN, dividends from US stock investments are subject to a 25% US withholding tax under the DTAA; if not, they are subject to a 30% tax. Moreover, all gross income must be reported in India to avoid double taxation. In India, dividends will be taxed at the investor's applicable income tax slab rate, and the 25% already deducted by the US can be claimed by the investor as a Foreign Tax Credit (FTC) to avoid double taxation.

Furthermore, no TCS is levied on remittance amounts of up to ₹10 lakh in a financial year. If the remittance amount exceeds ₹10 lakh in a financial year, banks collect 20% TCS, which can be adjusted against the investor's final income tax liability when filing the ITR.

Reading the Columns

Each row in the US Stocks list displays the following:

  • Name: The company name as listed on NYSE or NASDAQ, linked to its individual stock page on Dhan for detailed price history, financials, and more.
  • LTP (Last Traded Price): The most recent traded price of the stock in USD.
  • Change %: The percentage change in the stock's price relative to the previous trading session's closing price.
  • Volume: The total number of shares traded during the most recent session, indicating how actively the stock is being bought and sold.
  • Market Cap (Mn): The total market capitalisation of the company in millions of USD.
  • PE Ratio: The price-to-earnings ratio indicates how much investors are currently paying for each unit of earnings.
  • Industry PE: The average PE ratio of all companies within the same industry or sector.
  • 52W High: The highest price at which the stock has traded in the last 52 weeks.
  • 1M Returns: Percentage return generated by the stock over the last one month.
  • 3M Returns: Percentage return generated by the stock over the last three months.
  • 1 Yr Returns: Percentage return generated by the stock over the last one year.
  • 3 Yr Returns: Absolute returns in percentage over the last three years.
  • 5 Yr Returns: Absolute returns in percentage over the last five years.
  • ROE (Return on Equity): A profitability measure that reflects how efficiently the company is using shareholder capital to generate profit.
  • ROCE (Return on Capital Employed): A broader profitability metric that measures how efficiently a company generates earnings from all capital in use, including debt.

How to Use the Table Controls?

The controls on this page help you filter the vast US market and find specific investing opportunities efficiently:

  • Alphabetical filter: You can use the A–Z letter tabs to narrow the list to companies whose names begin with a specific letter.
  • Quick links: Use the exchange-specific links at the bottom of the table like All NYSE Stocks, All NASDAQ Stocks, and All US ETFs to switch to a filtered view by exchange or asset type.
  • Sorting: Click on column headers like Change % to instantly sort the table to find the day's top gainers and losers.

Key Terms to Know

  • LRS (Liberalised Remittance Scheme): The RBI framework under which Indian residents can remit up to $250,000 per financial year abroad for permitted transactions, including investment in overseas stocks and ETFs. US stock investing from India operates under this scheme.
  • Fractional shares: It lets investors buy a fraction of a single share instead of a complete unit. On Dhan, investors can buy US stocks with a minimum investment of $1, meaning they can buy a fraction of a stock priced at a higher amount.
  • NYSE (New York Stock Exchange): A major American stock market located on Wall Street in New York City and the world's largest stock exchange by market capitalisation.
  • NASDAQ: The second-largest US exchange, known for its heavy concentration of technology, semiconductor, and growth-oriented companies including Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Amazon.
  • Market capitalisation: The total value of a company's outstanding shares at the current market price. It is used to classify companies as large-cap, mid-cap, or small-cap.
  • Dividend withholding tax: The US government deducts a 25% tax (under the DTAA) on dividends paid out by US companies to Indian residents.

Why Track US Stocks List on Dhan?

Tracking the US Stocks List on Dhan offers distinct advantages such as:

  • Complete universe in one place: All the listed US companies on the NYSE and NASDAQ are available to Indian investors on a single page, updated with live price data, without requiring navigation across multiple external sources.
  • Return history across time horizons: The list shows returns for each stock over 1-month, 3-month, 1-year, 3-year and 5-year periods, enabling investors to judge consistency in performance across different market cycles, not just the most recent.
  • Fundamental metrics alongside price data: ROE, ROCE, PE ratio, and industry PE are displayed in the same row as price and volume data, reducing the need for investors to open individual stock pages for a preliminary fundamentals screening.
  • Direct access to individual stock pages: Each company name links to its dedicated stock page on Dhan with complete price history, financial details, and an option to invest directly.

Things to Know Before Investing in US Stocks

Here are some things you should know before investing in US stocks:

  • LRS limit applies annually: Overseas investments have a $250,000 per financial year remittance limit across all foreign investments and transactions, not just US stocks.
  • Currency risk: US stock investments are denominated in USD. Returns in INR terms will be affected by changes in the USD/INR exchange rate in addition to the stock's price movement.
  • Tax treatment in India: Gains from US stocks are taxed in India as capital gains. If held for more than 24 months, they attract LTCG and are taxed at 12.5%. If held for less, they are taxed at the investor's applicable income tax slab rate.
  • US market hours differ from IST: US markets operate on Eastern Time (ET), which corresponds to late evening and night hours in India.
  • TCS on remittances: Under the LRS, any international remittance above ₹10 lakh in a financial year attracts a 20% Tax Collected at Source (TCS).
